Experience plus experience once more proved a winning formula as En Un Rincón (Manipulator) and the legendary Abel Giorgis teamed up for yet another important success. The pair delivered on Monday evening at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, where the dark bay from Stud El Lobo of Azul captured the Handicap Grandes Fustas, contested over 1000 meters on the main track.

A stakes winner already, En Un Rincón had no issue shouldering top weight of 60 kilos, dispatching a solid field—many of them carrying significant advantage at the scales—with plenty in reserve.

As is his custom, the winner tracked close to the pace, while Aires de Gloria (Angiolo), under 59.5 kilos, set a sharp tempo through a quarter in :22.79, with Bank One (Lenovo) pressing the issue. By the 500-meter mark, Giorgis had En Un Rincón at the leader’s throatlatch, and moments later the pair took command, never truly threatened by the late run of lightweight Santo Federal (Santillano, 53), who got within a neck at the wire.

Another 1 1/2 lengths back came Bank One in third, with Aires de Gloria just behind in fourth. Little was seen of El Romancero (Il Campione, 55), who has clearly proven more effective on turf. Final time was :55.87, with the 800 meters clocked in :43.88.

Produced by Como Mi Hermana (Mutakddim), from an imported family of limited local impact, En Un Rincón is trained by Daniel Badano and now boasts six wins in 18 starts, three of them at stakes level, having previously annexed the G3 Coronel Pringles and the Handicap Sorteado.

Firmly at his peak, En Un Rincón looks set to return to the stakes stage, where—with the division lacking a clear standout—he could easily make his presence felt once more.
