The daughter of Peten Itza will carry 60 kilos in the República de Panamá, which will be contested over the kilometer

LA PLATA.— Twelve races are scheduled for this Thursday at the racetrack in this city, highlighted by the Especial República de Panamá (1,000m, dirt), open to mares 4 years old and up with three or more victories to their credit.
A small group of seven participants will gather at the starting gates to compete for the $5,270,000 designated for the winner—very little, it must be said—and among them, the name Doña Chila clearly stands out. Not surprisingly, she will carry the top weight of 60 kilos.
The daughter of Peten Itza is in excellent form, having regained her stride with wins in the Handicap Solyluz at Palermo and the Especial Haras Carampangue here, where she comfortably outclassed a demanding field.
A rival to watch out for will be Maylena (Qué Vida Buena, 56), especially regarding the weight advantage. She comes off a victory in the Especial París Queen, where she bravely held off High Rimout (Remote), looking strong in the final 200 meters.
Gran Celestial (Il Mercato, 52) did not finish too far back in the Clásico General Güemes (G3) at Palermo, won by Lissette Island (Lizard Island). She now returns to the track where she previously finished third behind La Meninha (Le Blues) in the Clásico Asociación Cooperativa de Criadores de Sangre Pura de Carrera (L), beaten by only 1 1/2 lengths. The weight scale gives her a helping hand, and she certainly has what it takes to take the top prize.
For those looking for an upset at high odds, the recommendation is to trust Una Felicidad (In the Dark, 56). Despite being 7 years old, she is running quite well and dreams of a golden finish to her career.
