LA PLATA.- The Especial Doctrinaria Slew going 1,700 meters over a fast dirt track, the first of two feature events on Tuesday's program at the local oval, shaped up on paper as a highly competitive affair.

That pre-race analysis materialized into a thrilling reality deep in the stretch. In a breathless blanket finish, Doña Súper (54 kg.) dug in determinedly to defeat a persistent Beauty de Triomphe (52 kg.) by a mere nose, while top-weighted Puerta Plateada (Puerto Escondido, 56 kg.) completed the trifecta just a half-length further back.

The victory by the four-year-old daughter of Daddy Long Legs extended the sensational run of form enjoyed by the lethal combination of conditioner Marcelo Sueldo and leading jockey Gonzalo Borda. The duo would go on to complete a spectacular feature-race double later on the card when Escape Room (Il Campione) captured the Handicap Haras La Providencia.

The early tactical dispatch saw Expert Advice (Il Campione, 56 kg.), Nipotina (Treasure Beach, 54 kg.), and Puerta Plateada matching strides along the front end through a contested opening perimeter, while the two eventual market leaders reserved their energy from just off the pace.

Turning for home, Puerta Plateada shook loose from her pace rivals and briefly looked like she might steel away with the prize. Her advantage was short-lived, however, as Doña Súper and Beauty de Triomphe launched their simultaneous, sweeping rallies down the center of the track to turn the feature into a two-horse match race to the wire. Thrusting her head down at the definitive moment, the Stud Yabroud colorbearer secured the narrowest of victories as the $2.20 market favorite, stopping the clock in a sharp 1:43.22.

Bred by Haras San Benito, Doña Súper is out of the class-producing Perfectperformance mare La Terucca, a multiple Grade 1 and Grade 2-placed distaffer during her own high-end racing career. She is a half-sister to Argentine Grade 3 winner and North American stakes winner Fantasioso (Strategic Prince), hailing from an elite Haras Ojo de Agua foundation family that includes Don Fitz (Fitzcarraldo), Good Donzyl (Good Manners), and champion Caprice de Dieu (Kasteel).

The victory marked the fifth career score for the chestnut filly from 20 lifetime starts, and her premier breakthrough in stakes company.
