The great form of Dream Serena found the long-sought graded stakes winner's circle photo this Saturday on the heavy turf at San Isidro. Reaching 1,800 meters for the first time in her career and confirming all the good signs she had been showing lately, the daughter of the generous Forge easily took the Clásico Paseana (G2-1,800 m) and, in the process, opened a new chapter for her future.

Until now, a mare that shone between 1,400 meters and the mile, the memory of the unforgettable champion owned by Raúl Mateos and his Stud Bahía Blanca served to take her to another level, further in distance, and allowed her to join the group of the best today in a division where the filly Charm (Strategos) is the leader of the pack.

Dream Serena's turn of foot was felt more than ever, despite a track lacking elasticity due to recent rains and a logical, not overly fast pace—the kind that usually suits her perfectly.

Kevin Banegas, the jockey who has ridden her in most of her starts, knows the secret is to relax her and wait until the straight to charge with clear running, ensuring no interference forces a regrouping that always complicates things. And he stuck strictly to that script.

Always glued to the rails without giving up a meter, Dream Serena ran among the last, indifferent to what Masiera Time(Annals of Time) was doing up front. Once in the home straight, the winner quickly found her lane, accelerated strongly, and by the 200-meter mark overtook the favorite Orpen Rimout (Remote)—who handled much of the turn on the wrong lead—to draw away and ultimately defeat her by 2 1/2 lengths in a time of 1m50s60/100. Another 3 lengths back, My Pride (Daddy Long Legs) finished third.

Bred by Haras Chenaut, racing for Stud Quereuquén, and trained by Nicolás Martín Ferro, Dream Serena was untouchable, climbed several rungs in the rankings, and has varied options ahead, such as considering the Estrellas Distaff (G1).
