NEWMARKET, Inglaterra (Special for Turf Diario).- The story of Dubawi continues to be written in bold letters. On Tuesday, October 21, the phenomenal Darley stallionbecame only the third sire in history to reach the milestone of 200 Group winners—joining the legendary Galileoand Danehill—cementing his status as the most successful stallion ever to stand in the United Kingdom.

The landmark victory came courtesy of Sugar Island, a 2-year-old filly bred by Westerberg and trained by Aidan O’Brien, who led gate to wire in the Staffordstown Stud Stakes (G3) over a mile at The Curragh. Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the chestnut dictated the pace throughout and kicked clear with authority to score by 2 3/4 lengths.

Already a maiden winner at The Curragh in July and third last time out in Doncaster’s May Hill Stakes (G2), Sugar Island boasts a regal pedigree. She is out of Heaven On Earth (Galileo) and is a full sister to champions MindingTuesday, and Empress Josephine. Her victory made her the 25th black-type winner bred from the Dubawi–Galileocross, a now-iconic nick that has produced elite names such as Night Of ThunderHenry Longfellow, and Ghaiyyath.

At 23 years oldDubawi shows no sign of fading. The founder of a true modern dynasty, he has more than 15 sons at stud across Europe—many already proven or quickly rising through the ranks. His line has become a global symbol of class and consistency, producing elite winners on every major stage and shaping new generations of champions.

The 2025 season has added yet another brilliant chapter to his record, with five new Group 1 winners—bringing his total to 61—led by the outstanding Delacroix, hero of both the Irish Champion Stakes (G1) and the Eclipse Stakes (G1), and the ever-reliable Rebel’s Romance, who continues to shine on the international circuit. Notable Speech, another of Dubawi’s flagbearers and a future Darley stallion, confirmed his sire’s legacy by capturing the English 2000 Guineas (G1).

Yet Dubawi’s impact reaches far beyond his own offspring. Night Of Thunder is poised to be crowned Champion Sire in Europe, with exceptional results both on the track and in the sales ring. Too Darn Hot has already made his mark thanks to the brilliant Fallen Angel, a multiple Group 1 winner. Ghaiyyath, once rated the world’s top racehorse, has made a superb start at stud, while Space Blues recently celebrated his first top-level winner. Promising names like Naval Crown, whose first yearlings were highly sought after, and Modern Games, now represented by his eagerly awaited first foals, are carrying the torch forward—along with Zarak and New Bay, both thriving within the extended Dubawi clan.

In Argentina, Dubawi’s influence is also gaining momentum through his sons Safety CheckForge, and the most recent arrival, Alfred Munnings, who began covering mares in 2024 to great anticipation. All of them carry the blood of a stallion who redefined British breeding and continues to inspire breeders around the world.

By Dubai Millennium and out of the excellent Zomaradah (Deploy), Dubawi first burst onto the scene as an exceptional racehorse—winner of the National Stakes (G1) and the Irish 2000 Guineas (G1)—but it was at stud where his legend truly took shape. His record is staggering: over 200 stakes winners, progeny earning millions worldwide, and a genetic legacy that stretches far beyond his own generation.

Dubawi is the stallion who defines an era,” say those at Darley—and the statement is no exaggeration. More than two decades after his birth, his genetic brilliance continues to shape the future of the Thoroughbred, ensuring that the name Dubawi will endure among the great breed-shaping sires of all time.
