LA PLATA, ARG – Despite a delayed start to his racing career that saw him debut well into his 4-year-old season, the high-priced El Bolivariano (Arg) (Il Campione {Chi}) continues to make up for lost time. On Sunday, the promising colt capped off a stellar 2025 campaign with a career-best victory in the Especial Hipódromo de Dolores.

Shortening up to the mile after a stint at 2000 meters, the Miguel Cafere trainee proved once again that the La Plata surface is his preferred playground. Under a patient ride from Luciano Recuero, the 4-year-old carried 54kg in a stalking effort, picking up steam late to overhaul the previously unbeaten local Che Vivi (Arg) (Manipulator) by 1 1/2 lengths. The final time was stopped in a sharp 1:37.52.

The winner's stablemate and betting favorite, El Patio (Arg) (Il Campione {Chi}), led the field from the break under a testing 60kg impost but faded to third, six lengths adrift. While El Patio remains competitive, the torch appears to have been passed to his younger stable companion.

A Pedigree of Excellence Bred by the powerhouse Haras El Paraíso, El Bolivariano was a "sale topper" type as a yearling and has now secured five wins in 2025 alone. He arrived at Sunday’s test following a runner-up finish in the Clásico Jockey Club del Paraguay and a third-place effort in Palermo’s Handicap Egg Toss.

He is the most accomplished runner to date out of Bolivariana (Arg) (Incurable Optimist), herself a sibling to stakes winner October Four. This is the prolific family of G1 winner Dalbornell (Arg) and G2 winner Sausalero (Arg). Most notably, his third dam, Silver House, produced G2 winner Rhythm and Soul, who in turn produced the Argentine Group 1 standout El Musical (Arg)—also a son of Il Campione.
