On an unusual day, Thursday, the Hipódromo de San Isidro will once again receive the horse racing wheel, while waiting to know what will happen in the next few weeks, since, if the provincial Lottery does not pay the funds owed, there is already talk that there will be no races.

Within what will be another very low quality date, the highlight will be the República de Francia Handicap, which, paradoxically, will be run a couple of days before the Clásico Francia (L)...

It will be run over 2400 meters over the inside dirt track, and is open to 5 years old and older horses, and will have a weak prize of $ 5,320,000 for the winner. Only 5 were confirmed, in a trend of weeks ago for the central tests.

At 6 years of age, El Darwin (Il Campione) found again a competitive form, and it is not for nothing that he will carry here the topweight of 60 kilos. The Stud La Frontera's credit said goodbye 50 days ago with a spectacular win over Safety Honour (Safety Check) in the Val D'Or Handicap, over 1800 meters, coming back in the final meters after appearing to be totally beaten.

In his path now crosses the good Machacado (Galicado, 57 1/2), not the soundest, but a good runner. In 4 seasons he was able to compete only 11 times, in the last year and coins, only in 3. He has just recovered from a long lay off by beating Mar Glorioso (Treasure Beach) by a nose in a conditional race, the same one where Don Galeón (Il Campione, 52), who is also in the handicap, was third.

The productive Don Nipon (Equal Stripes, 56) is the youngest of the group with his 5yo's, and is one of the reasons why he will be clinging to another important success for the Stud-Haras San Benito silks. He has just clearly beaten the English Queen of Cordoba (Almanzor), with India Cheat (Suggestive Boy) -who later became an stakes winner- crossing in third.

The list is closed by the mare Potra Decimal (Aerosol, 50), who will be in the other side of the weight assignatios and comes from finishing fifth to Luz Delito (Lizard Island) 11 1/4 lengths behind in the Clásico Apertura (G2), on Palermo's turf track.
