El Mejor Recuerdo aims to keep building momentum in an unmissable Clásico Pablo Falero

The Rosario native has already won 17 races and is hungry for more; he faces seasoned rivals such as Despacito, Rugiente, Huracán Risk, Bienhechor, and Amiguito Don José

The slate of stakes races rolls on, returning this Monday to Hipódromo Palermo for the Clásico Pablo Gustavo Falero(1200 m, dirt)—held, naturally, in honor of the formidable Uruguayan jockey, already a global legend of the sport.

Scheduled as the ninth race on the card at 6:00 p.m. and open to horses 4 years old and up under weight-for-age conditions, the contest shapes up as a true showdown of experience, headlined by the Rosario native El Mejor Recuerdo(Il Campione) and Despacito (Sabayón).

Between the two, they boast 93 starts, 36 victories, and over 200,000,000 pesos in earnings—figures that easily illustrate the competitive greatness of two genuine icons of the turn-sprint division in recent years.

El Mejor Recuerdo is now 7 years old and captured the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1) over the Palermostraight not too long ago. He arrives in sharp form, coming off back-to-back victories in the Clásico Día de la Bandera—under the exact same conditions he faces today—and the Clásico General San Martín at Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario, where he is trained by Daniel Cima.

Despacito, meanwhile, now 9 years old, will once again load onto the van in Santa Rosa for the 600-plus-kilometer trip to try and regain the winning track after 4 consecutive defeats.

Another formidable contender is Rugiente (Il Campione), a 10-time winner who, after 3 straight runner-up efforts, finished fourth in the Handicap Juan Bautista Udaondo. His late charge always poses a threat.

Much younger by comparison, Huracán Risk (Security Risk) returns from a short layoff of just over two months; at his best, he will certainly command respect, having already scored stakes victories in this division.

Completing the competitive lineup are Bienhechor (Grand Reward) and Amiguito Don José (Todo Un Amiguito), who crossed the line in that order, separated by just a neck, when sweeping the top spots in the aforementioned Handicap Udaondo.
