Winner of the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1), the Rosarino colt El Mejor Recuerdo leads the lineup against rivals including Santa Calma, Vida Amorosa, and Cerrito Piñón

The traditional Monday racing card at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will focus on speed, highlighted by the running of the Coronel Pringles (G3, 1000m, dirt) and General Lavalle (G3, 1000m, dirt) Stakes—just steps away from the upcoming Carreras de las Estrellas series.
The two-year-olds will kick off the action with a competitive field (detailed separately in this edition) in the first of those events, while the feature pair will be rounded out by the older horses, with El Mejor Recuerdo standing out among the confirmed entries.
The Rosarino colt has just made the leap to the big leagues, shifting from the tighter turns of sprint races to the stretch and capturing the prestigious Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1). There, he outdueled the filly Lagoa Azul(Lenovo) and the three-time champion Labrado (Le Blues), who were the division’s top contenders at the time.
The son of Il Campione will be tasked with defending his title, though it won’t be an easy feat—especially considering his style of running patiently from off the pace. This will require jockey Eduardo Ortega Pavón to be fully alert in the irons.
Starting off the race day will be the Cordoban filly Santa Calma (Qué Vida Buena), who lost her debut but then rattled off three straight wins alternating between northern turf and local dirt. She has shown the potential to make a statement at the highest level as well.
Another female contender bringing quality to the mix is Vida Amorosa (Safety Check). After defeating colts in the Clásico Irlanda (G3), she surprisingly faltered in the Clásico Estados Unidos de América (G3), finishing sixth—17 1/2 lengths behind Yukon Jack (Remote) on a wet track. Also a winner of the Clásicos Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G3) and General Güemes (L), she is expected to make her presence felt from the start.
Cerrito Piñón (Manipulator) finished second in the Estados Unidos de América but then disappointed in the Ciudad de Buenos Aires, making him another runner looking to redeem himself.
