El Paraíso Leads Among Breeders, But the Race for Supremacy Remains Wide Open

He holds a healthy lead over Firmamento, but decisive races are on the horizon that could change everything

Although there is just over ARS 200,000 separating first and second, the breeders’ standings are razor-close after nine months of racing. Haras El Paraíso remains in front, posting total earnings of ARS 1,674,443,051, but Firmamento is within striking distance, with ARS 1,451,380,616 in prize money.
This Saturday, Juan Carlos Bagó’s farm could make a big move with The Great Racing (The Great Day), the leading contender for the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1), adding even more intrigue to the leaderboard.
In third place by earnings, La Pasión shines with ARS 1,087,306,785, enjoying a strong season, while Abolengo and Vacación occupy fourth and fifth, separated by only narrow margins.
By races won, the order is identical: El Paraíso (220), Firmamento (184), La Pasión (150), Abolengo (108), and Vacación (100). Similarly, in terms of winning progeny, the rankings remain the same, with 162, 125, 103, 81, and 77, respectively.
When looking at the percentage of runners that have won among those who raced—with a minimum of 50 starters during the year—El Alfalfar leads with 55% (33/60), ahead of Gran Muñeca (51.6%, 57/91). El Turf (50.8%, 32/63), La Quebrada (46%, 23/50), and Don Florentino (44.4%, 40/90) round out the top five.
In the realm of stakes races, Firmamento has excelled with 29 wins, keeping it ahead, while El Paraíso follows with 23, then Gran Muñeca (13), El Alfalfar (8), and La Pasión and Vacación (8 each).
Looking at G1 victories, there is a tie between Firmamento and El Paraíso, each with three wins, while El Wing, La Generación, and Triple Alliance SA have secured two each.
Breaking it down by surface, on dirt, the top earners are El Paraíso, Firmamento, La Pasión, Abolengo, and Vacación, while on turf, the order shifts to Firmamento, El Paraíso, Santa María de Araras, La Pasión, and Santa Inés.
