The Il Campione colt, coming off a defeat on a muddy track, is now among the contenders in the Especial Haras Don Arcángel

LA PLATA.- The Especial Haras Don Arcángel promises plenty of intrigue and will headline this afternoon’s card at the local track. Run over a mile on dirt for horses aged 5 and older with three or more wins, the 11-horse field features several runners with notable credentials.
After a disappointing effort on the muddy surface in the Clásico General José de San Martín (G3), El Patio returns to San Isidro seeking redemption, carrying the top weight of 60 kilos. The Il Campione-bred, trained by Miguel Cafere, is a multiple stakes winner with a couple of strong G1 performances, typically racing prominently and relying on a mix of speed and stamina.
He will face stiff competition, particularly from Señor Dan (Señor Candy, 58), winner here of the Clásico Jockey Club de Mendoza and the Especial Río de Oro, and runner-up in the Clásico About Today. In his most recent outing, he finished fourth to Es Aristocrático (Angiolo) in the Especial Frío Wells.
Che Vivi (Manipulator, 54) arrives on a four-race winning streak, stepping up from allowance company with strong connections in Marcelo Sueldo (represented by Juan Pablo E. Díaz) and Gonzalo Borda, though dropping back in distance after racing over 2000 meters.
Cape to Río (Hi Happy, 54) is also in fine form, looking to extend his two-race winning streak and handle the challenge of facing stakes rivals.
Estibador (Il Campione, 54) has struggled to recapture his best form but gets another chance, while the seven-year-old El Quintral (Cursi Roy Top, 54) will attempt to make an impact, drawing on the solid ability he has consistently displayed.
