The son of Angiolo reaffirmed where he feels most comfortable by capturing the Clásico Julio Corte (L)
LA PLATA.- Sprinting around one turn is unquestionably the natural habitat of El Resero Con Capa, and he offered another emphatic reminder of that fact with a thoroughly dominant victory in Thursday’s Clásico Julio Corte (L-1100m, fast dirt), the feature event at this racetrack.
After a pair of below-par efforts over 1400 meters, the son of Angiolo delivered a crystal-clear message regarding the conditions under which he feels most comfortable, virtually putting on an exhibition while securing the fourth stakes victory of his career—all of them achieved between 1100 and 1200 meters.
Ridden by Adrián Giannetti, the Stud Tres Jotas colt wasted little time taking command of the race, and once he reached the front, he dictated proceedings entirely at his leisure.
By the time the field straightened for home, the hopes of the others disappeared instantly. The overwhelming favorite quickly separated himself from the pack and crossed the wire with an imposing 6-length advantage over Rugiente (Il Campione), while Magyar (Lenovo) finished another head back in third and Emm Yugo (Emmanuel) completed the superfecta a further half-length behind, all after an outstanding clocking of 1:03.62.
Trained by Carlos Vigil, El Resero Con Capa has now won five of his 10 starts while pushing his earnings comfortably beyond 70 million pesos, leaving little doubt about his leadership within the division.
The bay is out of the exceptional Marlotte (El Corredor), who has also produced G1 winner Madonna Benois (Angiolo), multiple G2 winners Mery Laurent (Angiolo) and Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione), as well as promising juvenile Autorretrato (Angiolo), who appears close to breaking his maiden.
