The Spectacular Colt of Stud Tres Jotas Maintained His Dominance in the La Plata Sprint Division by Taking the Clásico General Manuel Belgrano (G2)

LA PLATA.– Right from the paddock, El Resero Con Capa is one of those horses that strike fear into you. The worst part of it—or the best, depending on which side you look at it—is that when he hits the track, it is not just for show; he is a powerhouse, a runner, unstoppable, and with each passing day, it would seem, just a little bit better.
The remarkable son of Angiolo provided a new demonstration of his ability this Sunday, capturing the Clásico General Manuel Belgrano (G3-1,200 m, dirt) and managing to retain his crown as the best sprinter at the local racecourse.
In what was his third consecutive victory, the heavy favorite delivered another highly interesting performance, despite not breaking completely sharp, battling with anyone who tried to shadow him, and holding something in reserve for the homestretch in case any late closer aspired to test him.
Without being the quickest in the initial strides, El Resero Con Capa was soon on terms with Calle de Tierra(Strategos), who was attempting to clear. When the filly gave way midway through the turn, Valdobbio (Hit It a Bomb) and Azucar Negro (Angiolo) tried to put him in a spot of bother, but without success.
Upon entering the stretch, the Tres Jotas homebred lost no time in opening up a lead, securing a safe margin against the late runs of Redentor Scat (Knockout) and Let Me Dance (Le Blues), who chased him home from 1 1/2 lengths back, separated by a head for the minor placings, all after a final time of 1m12s99/100.
Making his reappearance, Valdobbio checked in fifth somewhat beaten, but looking forward to his next outing; meanwhile, Calle de Tierra faded to fifth, perhaps signaling that she is in need of a layoff.
Trained by Carlos A. Vigil, for the time being, there is simply no way to defeat El Resero Con Capa in the La Plata sprint division around a turn, as he pairs his immense racing ability with versatility, achieving an almost perfect cocktail.
Come November, he has an obligatory date to defend his crown in the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2), but until then, he will surely face two or three more challenges where new and dangerous rivals will emerge. He awaits them all with his class on full display, to continue setting the standard for the division.
