The daughter of Winning Prize turned in another game performance, defeating Forti Leaf by 1 length in the G2 Polla de Potrancas

LA PLATA.- Beating Elenika at La Plata is beginning to seem as difficult as uncovering Coca-Cola’s secret formula. The outstanding daughter of Winning Prize was once again the standout performer Tuesday, launching the 2025 Triple Tiara with a strong front-running victory in the Clásico Polla de Potrancas (G2, 1600m, dirt), solidifying her status as the best 3-year-old filly in the province.
As she did in the Clásicos Andrés S. Torres (G3), Raúl Aristegui (G2), and Miguel Luis Morales (G2), the Stud Hilda Juana colorbearer proved untouchable, establishing control early and showing her grit down the lane to secure a familiar result.
What sets Elenika apart is her ability to elevate her game with each new challenge. There’s no fixed script in her playbook—she’s versatile, whether rating just off the pace or dictating terms up front.
Facing only four rivals after the late scratch of My Pride (Daddy Long Legs), jockey William Pereyra adjusted seamlessly, letting the favorite roll to the lead. Forti Leaf (Fortify), her main rival on paper, tracked her closely throughout.
After moderate splits of :25.88 and :48.36, the pair separated from the rest turning for home, setting up a one-on-one duel. But Elenika, hugging the rail, found more with every stride and held Forti Leaf at bay by a length, the runner-up closing ground only because Pereyra eased late.
Cálida Sonrisa (Cosmic Trigger), shipping in from Palermo, finished 1 1/2 lengths further back in third, followed by Sinfonía Latina (Señor Candy) and Souq (Forge). The final time was 1:38.52, with the 1200m split clocked in 1:11.80.
Bred in Córdoba by Haras La Fortaleza and trained by Esteban Brown, Elenika continues to overcome every obstacle—whether it be tougher competition or increasing distances.
By Winning Prize (Pure Prize), a stallion known for his limited but quality opportunities, and from the prolific ‘E’ family tracing back to Emboscada (Gran Atleta), Elenika’s pedigree features an impressive roster of top-level performers: Expressive Halo, Halo Ola, Sebi Halo, Snapy Halo, Emigrant, and more recently Earth God and The Great Racing.
With her sights now set firmly on La Plata’s Grand Slam, the road leads next to the 2000-meter Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1)—a rare G1 still standing on the Argentine calendar.
Elenika, a solid-bodied filly who has developed steadily over time—going from 460 kg on debut to around 485 kg now—will have to balance rest and training to take the next big step.
But with her mix of speed, growing stamina, and the mental fortitude to adapt to every new challenge, Elenika has already earned her crown as the undisputed queen of La Plata’s sophomore class.
Now, as they say: “Next one up”—or better yet, “Next filly up.”
