LA PLATA.- With Calle de Tierra (Strategos) scratched and heavy favorite Hi Crystal (Hi Happy) failing to fire, Elenika made the most of the opportunity and threw her name into the increasingly open mix of top 2-year-old fillies at La Plata.

Coming off a second-level allowance win and with two previous unplaced efforts in stakes company, the daughter of champion Winning Prize showed new maturity on Sunday, taking command early and never facing a serious challenge from any of her four rivals.

Ridden with confidence by the in-form Juan Cruz Rivarola, the Stud Hilda Juana runner set fractions of :25.86, :50.33, and 1:16.70 over the muddy going before kicking clear in the stretch to win by 4 lengths. Day Light (Hurricane Cat), undefeated coming in, lost her perfect record but ran well for second. A neck behind her, Hi Crystal, who had dominated in her local debut over a wet track, never looked like the same filly and was a flat third.

Ree Libertadora (Reelants) and Animal Beach (El Animal) completed the order of finish in a race that, going forward, may struggle to retain its G3 status given the short field and uneven performances.

Trained by the consistent Esteban Brown and bred by Haras La FortalezaElenika is out of Electric Dancer (Editor's Note), an unraced full sister to Easter Flower (Ride the Rails), dam of G2 winner Esmeralda Nobleza (Halo Sunshine), and part of a strong branch of the ‘E’ family that includes Sebi HaloSnapy HaloHalo Ola, and Earth God, among others.

With Citana (Endorsement) aiming elsewhere and Calle de Tierra a late scratch, Elenika seized the moment, delivered a commanding win, and now heads into the rest of the season’s stakes calendar with renewed credentials and growing confidence.
