LA PLATA.- Elenika, the standout 2- and 3-year-old of the season at La Plata, will be the star attraction this afternoon as the heavy favorite in the Clásico Diego White (G3-1700 m, dirt), the traditional prep for the Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1).

The Winning Prize filly has racked up five consecutive victories, overcoming each challenge posed along her selective campaign, though questions remain about whether the repeated demands could eventually take a toll.

This will be her sixth start in four months, following wins in the Andrés S. Torres (G3)Raúl Aristegui (G2)Miguel Luis Morales (G2), and Polla de Potrancas (G2), demonstrating versatility across distances ranging from 1000 meters to a mile. Her past performances show she can adapt to any pace scenario, though she generally prefers to stay within striking range rather than trail far behind.

She will face seven rivals, several of whom she has already bested. La Graviere (Seahenge) comes from Palermo, where she defeated Nevada Top (Puerto Escondido) by two lengths over 1400 meters; Nevada Top also lines up and had finished fourth by 13 lengths in the Morales.

Evelia (Daddy Long Legs), coming off three third-place finishes, broke her maiden with relative ease and now steps up to stakes company, with the expectation that longer distances will continue to suit her.

José Cristóbal Blanco aims for his first victory as trainer of Stud-Haras Vacación with La Banda (Fortify), who was previously third in the G1 Gran Premio de Potrancas and fifth in the G1 Estrellas Juvenile Fillies, though she finished fourth by 1½ lengths in a conditional race behind Carmensita (Treasure Beach).

Other challengers include Mis Locuras (Manipulator), previously outclassed by Elenika, Counting Stars (Strategos), who graduated locally over a mile, and the also untested Filly’s Time (Annals of Time), hoping for a breakthrough.
