After the excitement of last Saturday’s Gran Premio Nacional (G1), action returns to a more relaxed pace Monday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, where a 12-race card will be headlined by the Handicap Solyluz alongside a pair of interesting allowance events.

Run over 1000 meters on dirt, the race honoring the unforgettable sprinter has drawn a field of older mares and features Eleven Mile as the one to beat. Carrying top weight of 60 kilos, the Il Campione mare brings experience and proven class to the contest. She comes off a disappointing effort in the Clásico Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G3) but had previously finished a strong second—beaten only half a length—behind the talented filly Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion) in the Clásico México (G3).

A winner of both the Clásico La Troienne and the Handicap Con BríoEleven Mile will face a rising and determined challenger in La Puketa (In the Dark, 56 kilos), who most recently edged Tormenta China (Malenchini) by a neck in the Handicap Alfonso L. Salvati.

Making her return after a 137-day breakDoña Chila (Peten Itza, 57) will try to regain the good form that saw her capture the Clásico Lunasia and place consistently across multiple venues before losing her way in recent starts. If she recaptures that earlier spark, she figures prominently from the jump.

Further down the list appear Bantia (John F Kennedy, 54), Morena Sar (Sardinero, 49½), Corona Tack (Art Attack, 50), Devera (Seek Again, 52), and Aluen (Safety Check, 50)—all hoping to spring an upset and emerge as the surprise of the afternoon.
