With a resume full of merit, the dark bay homebred by Haras La Madrina struck gold over the turf at San Isidro, earning a breakthrough victory that now places her firmly among the top milers in the division

The relentless generosity of Elvitas finally found its worthy reward. Making every step count in her preferred front-running style, the daughter of Cosmic Trigger wired the field in Saturday's Clásico Eudoro J. Balsa (G3, 1600m, soft turf) at San Isidro, firmly establishing herself among the country’s top milers.

Always competitive in major races since early in her career, Luciano Recuero made the most of a track profile that heavily favored speed and front-end runners, setting up Elvitas for a commanding performance. The bay filly quickly assumed command, opened a clear lead, and never looked back.

In the stretch, Same Treasure (Treasure Beach) made a bold attempt to challenge, but faltered late, surrendering second to favorite Fiesta Porteña (Fortify), who closed steadily to finish 1 1/2 lengths behind the winner. Same Treasure had to settle for third, just a neck back, with Candlelit (Equal Stripes) finishing fourth. Undefeated before this outing, Gigantografía (Bodemeister) faded to seventh, well behind.

Elvitas stopped the clock in 1:35.49—nearly a full second slower than The Great Racing (The Great Day) would later register in his 2000 Guineas (G1) triumph over the same course. The race unfolded through splits of 25.27, 48.45, and 1:11.85.

Bred by Haras La Madrina and trained by José Lofiego, Elvitas had previously finished second in the Clásico Carlos P. Rodríguez (G2) and third in the G1 Estrellas Juvenile Fillies. Her record now stands at 5 wins from 15 starts, with earnings of ARS$35,337,900.

Elvitas is the first foal out of Excellent Bid (Asiatic Boy), a daughter of the G2-winning Excellent Note (Editor's Note), descending from one of the prolific branches of the Family of E, the same influential female line behind The Great Day and other top-level runners.
