Carrying 60 kilos, the Stud Adriancito runner snapped a long drought with a front-running victory in the Handicap Mangangá

Nobody needs to be reminded now that Emmspacial Boy is a good horse. He showed it early on, as a juvenile—without question, the peak of his career—but he also managed to reaffirm that quality as an older horse, despite health issues that forced him into several layoffs and made his form more irregular.
After more than a year away from the winner’s circle, the Stud Adriancito runner finally found his way back on Monday, taking the Handicap Mangangá (1400m, dirt) at Palermo, one of the afternoon’s two feature events, while carrying top weight of 60 kilos.
With Emiliano Siniani in the irons, the dark bay trained by Roberto Caroprese showed his class right from the break, seizing the lead with determination and keeping a narrow advantage over Jardín del Poeta (Il Campione, 54).
Once in the stretch, while his rivals were already fully extended, Emmspacial Boy still had plenty left in reserve, saving his best for the final 400 meters. Asked for his run then, he responded gamely, drawing clear and cutting off any hope of a closer finishing blow.
At the wire, he held a two-length margin over longshot Negador Serial (Violence, 53), with El Despertar (Il Campione, 57) another three back in third, the clock stopping in 1:23.65 after fractions of :24.12, :47.59 and 1:11.9.
For Emmspacial Boy, now five, it was the sixth win of his 15-start career, five of them in black-type company. Alongside the Mangangá, his résumé includes the G3 Luis María Doyhenard, G3 José Pedro Ramírez, G3 Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera de Buenos Aires, and the New Dandy, as well as a runner-up finish in the G2 Pedro Goenaga and a third in the G1 Gran Premio Palermo.
Back in the winner’s circle at last, the question now is whether his current form will allow him to make an impact once again at the stakes level.
