The daughter of Legión de Honor bounced back from her previous setback and captured the Especial Amaranto Plus in convincing fashion
LA PLATA.- One stumble does not mean a fall, and Empress Life provided the perfect reminder of that Thursday when she rebounded from a disappointing previous effort to capture the Especial Amaranto Plus, the supporting feature on the same card as the Clásico Pedro Goenaga (G2), contested over 1200 meters on the main track.
Racing near the rear through much of the journey, the daughter of Champion Sprinter Legión de Honor began to improve around the far turn and reached the stretch perfectly positioned to launch her challenge.
Up front, Save Your Tears (Full Mast, 58 kilos) had already disposed of pace-setting Elkara (Il Campione, 52) and was attempting to break clear, but she never enjoyed a comfortable advantage.
Coming with a sustained run on the outside, Empress Life closed relentlessly, kept finding more, and in the final strides managed to wear down her rival, prevailing by a head in 1:13.04. Four lengths farther back, Che Solita (Zensational, 54)completed the trifecta, another 2 1/2 lengths ahead of Joy Traviesa (Fortify, 58).
Trained by Luis H. Domínguez, bred by Haras Abolengo, and racing for Stud El Barrial, Empress Life recorded the sixth victory of her career from 21 starts and her second success at the stakes level, following her triumph in last November's Especial Ranquelia.
The granddaughter of Asiatic Boy continues to make her presence felt, and as she approaches her sixth birthday, she is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.
