Coming off a layoff, the Cosmic Trigger filly turned in a spectacular performance, scoring by multiple lengths under a hand ride

LA PLATA.- Spectacular. That single word describes Emprestada’s performance in the Clásico Federico Plowes (1200m, heavy dirt), the feature race of Thursday’s card at the city's racetrack.
Over a track in shameful condition—dangerous for all involved—that failed to drain despite two days without rain, the daughter of Cosmic Trigger brushed off a long layoff, making it clear she is destined to be a major player in the local sprint division for the remainder of the season.
While the Stud Laredo filly had already impressed in mid-October when winning the Clásico Eusonio C. Boni (L), her first encounter with older mares was even more dazzling. She displayed such superiority that she effectively wiped her four rivals off the map (Re Guaraní was a non-runner).
The chestnut took a few moments to find her rhythm, as jockey Kevin Banegas allowed her to move at will. Once she did, she took the lead and covered every inch with a firm stride, accelerating in the home straight to put the race away in the blink of an eye.
She crossed the wire 6 lengths ahead of Qué Buena B (Qué Vida Buena), who was coming off a win in the Clásico Bullrich (G3)—a margin that was strictly academic. Another 11 lengths back, Centinela del Mar (Strategos) completed the trifecta after a lackluster effort.
Nashville Blue (Nashville Texan) and Belle Chanson (In the Dark) completed the board a city block away, collecting $866,600 and $619,000 pesos, respectively, for doing very little. The final time was 1:12.93, following fractions of :24.28and :49.22.
Bred by Haras Abolengo and trained at San Isidro’s Campo 2 by Nicolás Martín Ferro, Emprestada put on a high-class show in the Federico Plowes. Improved and more mature, the future is now in her hands. If she can maintain this level—or even improve slightly—she can take on anyone, regardless of their reputation.
