LA PLATA—The result of the Clásico Ciudad de Berisso, where he was upset in surprising fashion, quickly became a mere footnote for Encantador Pass, who bounced straight back on Tuesday at this track to take the Clásico Benito Lynch (L, 1200m, dirt) with authority.

The Stud Pauli colt continues to establish himself among the most promising young sprinters, in a division where the colors of Mauro Castellazzi have been setting the pace thanks to names like Es Aristocrático (Angiolo).

A son of the prolific Distinctiv Passion, Encantador Pass employed a patient, progressive style, allowing Valdobbio (Hit It a Bomb) to cut out sharp fractions of :23.66 and :46.32. That early effort took its toll on the pacesetter in the stretch, where he had no response once Gonzalo Borda sent the winner down the outside with a decisive move passing the 200-meter pole.

From there, Encantador Pass drew clear, scoring by two lengths over Walking Thunder (Dubai Thunder), who rallied from the back to snatch second by a half-neck from Valdobbio. The final time of 1:10.14 again reflected the excellent condition of La Plata’s track in recent weeks.

Bred by Haras El Alfalfar and trained by Marcelo Sueldo at San Isidro’s Campo 2—presented on the day by Juan Pablo E. Díaz—Encantador Pass now owns his second local stakes victory, having won the Clásico Jockey Club de Azul (L) on Nov. 19, also defeating Valdobbio.

With so many sprinters carrying the Pauli colors, Encantador Pass is beginning to hint that he may eventually stretch out, showing a sharp turn of foot once set down for the drive.

For Stud Pauli, it was another standout day: earlier on the card, they celebrated the spectacular debut of Quien Dijo Yo(Gidu), who strolled home by six lengths over 1400 meters.
