LA PLATA.- Thursday’s stakes doubleheader at La Plata kicks off with the Especial Haras El Tala, a 1200-meter dash for fillies and mares four and up that have won three or more races, offering a modest ARS 3,960,000 to the winner.

In a field that appears evenly matched, the race presents a prime opportunity for Enchanted Tales to secure the biggest win of her career. She’ll carry a manageable 54 kilos and will be guided by the capable hands of Gonzalo Borda.

A daughter of Il Campione campaigned by Stud San Francisco de PilarEnchanted Tales has held her own in recent black-type company. She finished fourth in the Clásico Vit Reina, third in the Especial Haras Vacación, and fifth in the Clásico España (L), with those efforts coming at San Isidro, La Plata, and Palermo, respectively.

Among her key rivals is Furiosa Vis (Furious Key, 54 kilos), who checked in sixth just last week in the G3 Clásico Joaquín V. Maqueda. Prior to that, she was a respectable fifth in the Clásico Jamelao (L) at Palermo, finishing just 4 1/4 lengths behind Pecadora Joy (Fortify).

Also of note is the entry of Brain Trust (Incurable Optimist, 52 kilos) and La Sirenita (Le Blues, 52 kilos), both coming off solid efforts in allowance company. Brain Trust was third last time out, narrowly beaten by Furiosa Vis and Curiosa Hit (Hit It a Bomb), while La Sirenita notched her third career win, getting up by a neck over Sprint Back (Nickelback).

With only 52 kilos on her back, Una Yumba (Hi Happy) also deserves a long look. Exceptionally consistent, her only recent misfire was a sixth-place run in the Clásico Lunasia. She rebounded nicely with a third-place finish and looks poised to improve again.

Making the trip from San Isidro’s Campo 2 is Funny Polly (Astern, 52 kilos), who enters off back-to-back victories and is undefeated since switching to the colors of Stud Sin Nombre, owned by Uruguayan interests. She drew off to win by 6 lengths over Melodía Seattle (Seattle Fitz), and followed that up with a 2-length score over Princesa Candy (Señor Candy), both in lower-level company. She’ll now test deeper waters in search of her third straight.
