Englishman Secures Future Stud Deal: Set to Join Lane’s End Roster Upon Retirement

The brilliant son of Maxfield, fresh off a spectacular victory in the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1), will continue his racing career throughout the 2027 season before officially entering stud duty at one of the most prestigious thoroughbred operations in the United States

MIDWAY, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Englishman, one of the most explosive 3-year-olds of the current American racing season, has officially secured his future stud career. Lane's End Farm announced this Monday that the talented son of Maxfield (whose first crop in Argentina will debut at the conclusion of the current season) will join its stallion roster upon retirement from the track, with his racing campaign set to continue through 2027.

Defending the silks of Lee and Susan Searing's CRK Stable, the Cherie DeVaux trainee recently cemented his status among the elite sprinters of his generation with a breathtaking performance in the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) on June 6th at Saratoga.

On that afternoon, he drew away to defeat his rivals by an authoritative 5 3/4 lengths, stopping the clock in 1m20s40/100 for the 1,400 meters to equal a track record that had stood since 1978. Furthermore, the victory earned him a blistering 115 Beyer Speed Figure—the highest awarded to any horse in the United States so far this season—alongside an Equibase Speed Figure of 120, which stands as the top figure among 3-year-old colts and shares the honors for the highest overall mark of the year.

Boasting a perfect record of never finishing off the board, Englishman launched his career at age two with a commanding 7 1/4-length debut victory at Churchill Downs. Returning to action this season, he delivered another display of brilliance with a 7 1/2-length score in a Fair Grounds allowance race before finishing a close second to Crude Velocity (Beau Liam) in the Pat Day Mile (G2). Redemption arrived just weeks later with his definitive top-flight breakthrough in the Woody Stephens.

Bred in Kentucky by Fifth Avenue Bloodstock, Englishman was purchased by Mayberry Farm for $400,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He is out of the winning mare In It for the Gold (Speightstown), while his second dam, All Due Respect (Value Plus), was a highly accomplished stakes performer who placed in nine graded events, including the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and the Ballerina Stakes (G1).

The high-profile agreement provides another massive boost for Maxfield, the multiple Grade 1-winning son of Street Sense, who is off to a sensational start at stud and already boasts the only Grade 1 winner among his freshman sire crop so far in 2026.
