The Handicap Arturo A. will feature stakes-level quality this Friday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. The day’s marquee race tests horses 4-year-olds and up over a grueling 2,500 meters on the dirt.

Grade 1 winner Epityrum (Portal del Alto) returns to action assigned 56 kg (123 lbs). He faces a field of accomplished rivals, including Super Inter (Super Saver, 59 kg/130 lbs) and Holy Holy Rim (Remote, 54 kg/119 lbs), in a race with a rather curious weight distribution.

Despite a 238-day layoff, Epityrum enters as the one to beat given his extensive experience over staying distances and his advantageous weight. A winner of the 2000 Guineas (G1) at age three, his resume also includes victories in the Clásico Chacabuco (G2), Yatasto (G3), and Expressive Halo (L). He was freshened following a subpar performance in the 3,000-meter General Pueyrredón (G3), which capped a long and demanding campaign.

Super Inter faces a significant test of stamina. Now under the care of trainer Gerardo Alteño, the Stud Disco Eternocolorbearer will be navigating the longest trip of his career. He looks to rebound from a disappointing third-place finish in the Handicap Ultrasonido.

Meanwhile, Holy Holy Rim recently returned from a layoff following a poor showing in the Carlos Pellegrini (G1), finishing a distant fourth in the Clásico Haras Argentinos (L). However, he remains a dangerous threat, having won the Clásico Malvinas Argentinas (L) and placed fourth in the Estrellas Classic (G1) last season.
