LA PLATA—In the best form of his career, Es Aristocrático delivered yet another dominant performance Sunday at La Plata, cruising to an effortless victory in the Especial Flag Nine (1200m, fast dirt) while carrying a hefty 62 kilos.

As if the weight and the margin weren’t enough to underline his brilliance, the Stud Pauli sprinter added a remarkable achievement: he stopped the clock in a record-breaking 1:09.27, erasing a mark that had stood since November 19, 2016, when Try Twice (Hat Trick) took the G2 Ciudad de La Plata in 1:09.34—and with just 59 kilos on his back.

It was a stroll for the Angiolo colt, who notched his fifth consecutive win at this track and the ninth victory of his 18-race career. As usual, Gonzalo Borda allowed him to settle comfortably early, swung him to the middle of the track turning for home, and the response was instant—he swept past the frontrunner Sonreíme (Orpen, 56) at the 200-meter mark and drew clear without being asked for more.

At the wire, Es Aristocrático held a two-length advantage over Sonreíme, with Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince, 54) finishing another length back in third. Le Massif (Le Ken), well regarded beforehand, checked in fourth, three lengths behind.

Trained by Marcelo Sueldo (and saddled by Juan Pablo E. Díaz) and bred by Haras Tres Jotas, the record-setting winner now heads toward his next major goal: cementing his status as La Plata’s top sprinter in the upcoming Clásico Ciudad de La Plata, where all signs point to another powerhouse performance.

Batacazo Kid Springs Upset in the Lordling

Unlike the overwhelming favorite Es Aristocrático, Batacazo Kid (Quiz Kid–La Batahola, by Southern Halo, bred by Haras Las Camelias) made the most of his light impost of 52 kilos to capture the Especial Lordling (1000m, dirt), the other feature on Sunday’s La Plata card.

With apprentice Martín Montoya aboard and trained by Roque Angioletti, Batacazo Kid scored by 1 1/2 lengths over Vespaciano (Daniel Boone, 60), while favorite Cántaros Song (Alcindor, 56) finished third, four lengths behind.
