The son of Il Campione maintained his unbeaten record under the colors of Stud Pauli, capping off a stakes double for trainer Marcelo Sueldo

LA PLATA, Argentina (Special for Turf Diario).– It seems that donning the Stud Pauli silks, being stabled in trainer Marcelo Sueldo’s barn at San Isidro’s Campo 2, and having Gonzalo Borda in the irons is a guaranteed formula for reaching the top.
The team’s spectacular year reached another high point this Wednesday at La Plata with Escape Room, who enjoyed a dream stakes debut by dominating the Clásico Onesto Puente (L), completing a stakes double for the stable on the card.
The progress shown by the son of Il Campione in this new stage of his career is nothing short of impressive. He remains undefeated under his new connections after spending the early part of his campaign under the care of Carlos D. Etchechoury for Stud La Raya. Since joining Sueldo, Escape Room has won 3-of-3 starts, consistently prevailing by multiple lengths and with ease. Truthfully, it is impossible to tell where his ceiling might be.
Despite stumbling at the start and briefly trailing the field, the heavy favorite quickly recovered. By the middle of the turn, he was stalking the leader Pernicioso (Daniel Boone), whom he overhauled effortlessly. In the homestretch, he put on a true show, pulling away without Borda ever needing to fully extend him.
At the wire, he held a 5-length advantage over the veteran Vespaciano (Daniel Boone), who once again turned in a solid performance. Redentor Scat (Knockout) finished third, another 2 lengths back. The final time of 1m11.82s was significantly faster than the 1m12.63s recorded earlier in the day by Chichipío (Angiolo) in the Clásico Agustín B. Gambier (G3).
Bred by Triple Alliance SA, Escape Room is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Back Story (Incurable Optimist). His victory capped a perfect afternoon for Marcelo Sueldo, who also trains the aforementioned Chichipío.
The sprinting division at La Plata has found a new star in Escape Room, who appears ready to fill the void left by Es Aristocrático (Angiolo)—the former Pauli/Sueldo/Borda standout who recently departed for the United States after dominating this same category.
