After a troubled trip at Maroñas, Pozo de Luna's mare returned to winning form in the G3 Joaquín V. Maqueda at La Plata

LA PLATA.- After finishing a distant seventh in the G1 Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo (2000m, dirt) at Maroñas on January 6, Escolastic Girl (Arg) (Suggestive Boy {Arg}) made a successful return to the races Thursday at La Plata, romping in the G3 Joaquín V. Maqueda (1400m, fast) with complete authority.
Dropping back in distance, the Haras Pozo de Luna-owned filly delivered a strong statement, picking up where she left off in 2024, when she closed her campaign with wins in the Clásico Orbit (L) and Clásico Marcos Levalle (G2).
Ridden confidently by Adrián Giannetti, the chestnut tracked the pace from midpack, launched a sweeping move around the turn, and drew off effortlessly in the stretch to score by five lengths over Catch the Bomb (Arg) (Hit It a Bomb), stopping the clock in a sharp 1:22.92. Illa Alegre (Arg) (Sabat Husson) was another length back in third.
Bred by Haras La Esperanza and trained by Nicolás Gaitán Dassié for Team Gaitán, Escolastic Girl now owns a record of 5 wins from just 9 starts.
Out of La Laiza (Arg) (Put It Back), a half-sister to G1 winner Escape of Glory (Lode), Escolastic Girl hails from the prolific Argentine "E" female family and is also a half-sister to multiple winner Empiric Twice (Emperor Richard), who captured the Handicap El Centauro among his four career victories.
