Filippiada will look to make her mark in the La Plata special

The daughter of Il Mercato is in great form and will carry a light weight in the República de Paraguay, to be contested over 1400 meters

LA PLATA.— Tuesday’s stakes doubleheader at this city’s racetrack will be completed by the Especial República de Paraguay (1,400m, dirt), for mares aged 4 and up with three or more victories. The race is practically a satellite event of the Clásico Luis Monteverde (L), which will be run shortly before over the same distance.

There is no shortage of candidates in the analysis, starting with Filippiada (Il Mercato, 52). A Group winner as a filly,she has been fighting to return to that level. In her most recent outing, she showed positive signs, finishing third, just two lengths behind Guadilu (Señor Candy) in the Handicap Jerry Honor at San Isidro, and she will command respect here carrying a light weight.

Although she will carry a bit more weight at 56 kilos, Expert Advice (Il Campione) is another strong contender,especially after her solid performances in the Handicap Nigromante and Handicap Saint Simon, both on the Jockey Club dirt, where she finished third in both instances.

A true local specialist, Jalimba (Señor Candy, 56) will be a force to be reckoned with, particularly if she manages to secure the lead—a scenario that may be difficult given the abundance of front-runners in the field.

While it was in "alternativa" (low-tier) company, La Paltrow (Hurricane Cat) won in spectacular fashion at San Isidro. Additionally, one cannot overlook City Land (Lizard Island, 56), who is coming off a very sharp victory in the Especial Lux Lucis right here. Finally, there are looming threats such as Tac-Tac (Manipulator, 52), Inside Dancer (Cima de Triomphe, 52), and Queen’s Reward (Grand Reward, 52), all capable of pulling off an upset.
