As the Argentine racing season heads into its final stretch, the country’s two premier venues began shaping their upcoming programs on Monday—and with a notable twist. Both Palermo and San Isidro will stage their feature races over 1000 meters and for fillies and mares aged three and up.

At Palermo, Monday’s highlight will be the Listed Clásico General Alvear, while San Isidro will answer on Saturday the 20th with the Potri Pe, run under handicap conditions.

The General Alvear (L) promises plenty of intrigue, with likely runners including Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and Beau Breeze (AP Candy). The provisional field of 11 is rounded out by Bantia (John F Kennedy), Enjoy Dancing (Hi Happy), Envidiada (Il Campione), Estrella Guía (Il Campione), La De Dudi (Aspire), La Farce (Emmanuel), Santa Calma (Qué Vida Buena), Una Felicidad (In the Dark), and Verdadera Pass (Distinctiv Passion).

Looking ahead to the Potri Pe, 13 fillies and mares are listed as possibles, with Santa Calma assigned topweight at 58.5 kilos. Bantia (55), Estrella Guía (51.5), and Verdadera Pass (54) reappear from the Alvear entries, joined by Dona Cucha (Storm Embrujado, 51.5), Firenze Key (Key Deputy, 52.5), Naimabad (Il Campione, 56.5), Nisa (Angiolo, 55), Portuaria Lure (Puerto Escondido, 56.5), Pretoriana (Daniel Boone, 52.5), Sunny Frank (Gidu, 53.5), Sylvania(Manipulator, 51.5), and Vieja Amiga Mask (Mask, 57.5).

Palermo will also race on Friday the 19th, with attention centered on the Handicap Orpen over 1600 meters, open to 5-year-olds and up. Blessed Shine (Honour Devil) carries topweight at 59 kilos, and is likely to face challenges from Gigantografía (Bodemeister, 58), South Briole (South Kissing, 57.5), Reina Casada (Long Island Sound, 57), La Nicolina (El Moisés, 56), Master Jane (Mastercraftsman, 56), Expert Advice (Il Campione, 56.5), and Emma Linda(Emmanuel, 55.5).

With speed set to take center stage, the closing weeks of the season promise sharp, competitive racing at Argentina’s top tracks.
