The horse bred by Haras Tiveres took full advantage of his featherweight assignment to provide apprentice jockey Lucas Martínez with the most important victory of his riding career to date

Taking full advantage of the featherweight 51 1/2 kilos assigned to him, Flaminius pulled off an upset to capture the Handicap Candy Stripes (1200m, normal dirt), the feature attraction of a technically modest Sunday card at the Hipódromo de San Isidro.
Coming off a low-key fifth-place finish in a conditional race, the son of champion Hi Happy capitalized on ideal race conditions to draw away to a comfortable 4-length victory over the evergreen Despacito (Sabayón), who carried a heavy 62-kilo impost and could never close the gap.
Ridden skillfully by apprentice jockey Lucas Martínez—marking the most important victory of his young career—Flaminius bided his time well off the early pace. Up front, Don Pichi (Qué Vida Buena), who raced with his rider's stirrups lost for a good portion of the trip after clipping heels at the start, locked horns with Soy Isleño (Long Island Sound) and Twist (Daddy Long Legs), dueling furiously as if the finish line were at the turn.
The three front-runners faded out of contention as the field turned into the homestretch, ultimately filling the final positions in the order of finish. Flaminius loomed boldly, striking the front and opening up a wide margin that proved impossible for Despacito to bridge.
Mario's Rim (Remote) stayed on to secure third, another 4 lengths back, while heavy post-time favorite Naimabad (Il Campione) turned in a disappointing performance to finish fourth. The clock stopped at 1m09.99s, following opening fractions of 23.39s and 46.46s.
Conditioned by Elvio Bortulé for Stud A.S.F., Flaminius was bred by Haras Tiveres and is a maternal grandson of the unforgettable grey mare Filarmonía (Slew Gin Fizz).
