LA PLATA.- Monday’s final declaration stage at the provincial oval arrived with plenty of tactical developments for local horsemen. As widely anticipated, the widespread implementation of the alternative category (CA) format across recent racing programs—which slashes scheduled purses nearly in half—yielded a highly negative impact, resulting in three critically depleted cards anchored by field sizes with minimal participation.

Faced with this severe shortfall at the entry box, the racing committee announced that for next week’s racing cycle, which features the upcoming entry deadline on Friday, all programmed events will instead offer full, non-conditional purses. Consequently, every race originally designated under the alternative category framework will be upgraded to standard conditional status.

The immediate fallout of the prior policy is reflected in the upcoming schedule, which features a mere nine races carded for Sunday, July 5; eight events on Tuesday, July 7; and ten races on Thursday, July 9, with several fields featuring six or fewer runners. The local purse structure has already heavily burdened owners' finances, who find themselves competing for purses that barely cover the cost of a single month's stall pension.

In stakes action, Sunday’s card will feature the Clásico Isidoro Aramburu (G3) over 1,600 meters on the main track, serving as the seasonal sophomore debut on the road to the local Triple Corona. Offering a winner's share of 9,210,000 pesos, Los Llanos (Le Blues) headlines a compact field of just six runners that also includes Jorginho (Seek Again), Montaldo (Uncle Chuck), Sarraceno (Daddy Long Legs), Teobaldo (Uncle Chuck), and El Pirata (Il Campione).

On Thursday, July 9, the track will host the Clásico 9 de Julio - Día de la Independencia (G3) at one mile on the dirt. A field of eleven horses was finalized at the declaration stage, anchored by Campo Verde (Strategos), Don Zahir (Daddy Long Legs), El Ernesto (Señor Candy), Sabiyano (Fortify), and Storm Sound (Hi Happy). The remaining lineup consists of Bombay Lake (Anjiz Lake), El Gran Star (Grand Reward), Lauren Nak (Anak Nakal), Purple Nich (Nicholas), Rodo (Flowing Rye), and Vampiro Zen (Zensational).

Additionally, Tuesday’s feature attraction will be the Clásico Club Hípico de Tandil (L) going 1,100 meters for three-year-old colts. The confirmed starting gate will feature Arc Village (Angiolo), Beach Stars (Treasure Beach), Mister Market (Market Rally), Sunny Thunder (Dubai Thunder), Vertiginoso (Japan), Joy Conquistador (Roman Joy), and Buscado Continental (Very Continental).
