LA PLATA—The 1600-meter Clásico Ignacio Correas, to be run on the main dirt track this Sunday at La Plata, will feature a standout showdown between Forty Fain (Fortify) and Paraná Miní (Winning Prize), headlining the day’s program.

For Forty Fain, it will mark his first appearance in the “City of Diagonals,” returning after a 140-day layoff since capturing the Handicap Advocate at Palermo in mid-January, where he defeated Hop On (Endorsement) by half a length.

Paraná Miní, meanwhile, just raced earlier this week and, should connections decide to run him back, he’ll be a formidable rival. The dark bay returned to top form after a brief dip and nearly stole the G2 Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 last Tuesday, only being caught late by Monsieur Delon (Il Campione), losing by just half a neck.

Le Club (Le Blues) could play the role of upsetter. Now six, he’s still chasing a first stakes win and has been knocking on the door, finishing fourth in the Handicap Good Time, third in the Especial Río de Oro, and most recently fourth again in the Listed Clásico Blend at Palermo.

Among the longer shots are Edification (Il Campione), looking to recapture past form; the inconsistent Hit It a Royal(Hit It a Bomb); and Sacripante (Southern Cat), who has the tools to surprise.

Rounding out the field for the race, scheduled to go off around 4:00 p.m., are Golden Incurable (Golden Cigars), Preludio Lento (Daddy Long Legs), and Mingo Dancer (In the Dark), the latter coming in off back-to-back victories.
