A consistent performer at the top level, Stud El Basti’s colt set for friday’s G3 Clásico General Viamonte

With Ansia Clara (Angiolo) and Arellano (Angiolo) just retired, and while Labrado (Le Blues) takes a break, the turf sprint division at San Isidro is in search of new frontrunners. That quest will take center stage in Friday’s G3 Clásico General Viamonte (1000 m), the highlight of an action-packed card in the north.
Only five runners will line up, with Fox Embrujado emerging as a prime candidate to step up to the top tier after a string of solid performances.
Racing in the colors of Stud El Basti, the Storm Embrujado colt captured the Listed Clásico Propietarios in August before tackling much tougher company, always holding his own. He finished third in the G2 Cyllene, fourth in the G1 Suipacha, and fifth in the G1 Félix de Alzaga Unzué, efforts that firmly establish him as the one to beat here.
For the offspring of Hail to Humor (Distorted Humor), excelling in the sprints division has become almost a family tradition. Her progeny includes multiple stakes winners such as Humor Ácido (Emperor Richard), Humorada Negra (Emperor Richard), Humorada Lírica (Sidney’s Candy), and Humorista (Roman Ruler), who in turn produced the talented Humor Sabatino (Sabayón). Now, Hirán (Santillano), another of his offsprings looks to extend that legacy, stepping into the stakes ranks with an impressive record of three wins from four starts.
The filly Barbacoa Key (Key Deputy) switches from dirt to turf and has already proven herself at this level against her own sex. She was a strong third behind Aubrie (Angiolo) and Vida Amorosa (Safety Check) in the G3 Clásico General Francisco B. Bosch at Palermo, and she could very well upset the boys here.
Filoso Emperor (Emperor Richard), fresh off a victory in the Handicap Parlanchín, takes his shot at age seven, though he faces a stiff challenge. Alto Heredero (Compasivo Cat) rounds out the field after finishing last in a winners-of-one race, though regardless of his performance, he is guaranteed a check worth 701,250 pesos.
