JEBEL ALI, United Arab Emirates.— Life is sweet for the team of Francisco Leandro and trainers Antonio Cintraand Julio Olascoaga, who are enjoying a high-flying start to the season.

After shining on Friday with Miss Yechance (Cotai Glory)—which marked the jockey's first victory in the region—the trio returned to the winner's circle just hours later. This time, it was thanks to the Brazilian-bred Nam Phrik (Hofburg), who captured Saturday's Daaeemm Incentive Stakes (1400m, dirt) at Jebel Ali, a handicap for horses rated up to 90.

Unleashing a powerful late bid, the bay surged past the field in the final furlong to defeat the Irish-bred Jolly Roger (Dark Angel) by 1 3/4 lengths. In doing so, he carried the Las Monjitas silks to their first-ever victory in the United Arab Emirates.

Several notable rivals finished behind Nam Phrik, including the Uruguayan Don Vaccaro (Alcorano), also conditioned by Cintra and Olascoaga, who finished sixth, beaten just over 11 lengths.

As if that weren't enough, the jockey and trainers closed the day with a solid effort from another Uruguayan runner, Don Pelícano (Midshipman), who finished as the runner-up, 4 1/4 lengths behind Excel Power (Slade Power) in the Al Awir Cup (1800m, dirt), a handicap for horses rated up to 80. In that same race, Moonshiner (Kodiak Kowboy) finished fifth after encountering some trouble.
