When Francisco Leandro is in Francisco Leandro mode, the result is afternoons like the one the Brazilian jockey enjoyed this Thursday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, racking up no fewer than six victories.

But his dominance wasn’t the only jockey news of the day. With his win aboard Tiznow Forever (Midshipman) in the Handicap Picapleitos, many believed that Wilfrido Torres Maldonado had reached the 120 wins required to graduate from apprentice status. However, as was reported during the telecast, he apparently remains two wins short, revealing yet another discrepancy in the official records. Similar issues recently occurred with Lucas González and Ramiro Ralazar, reflecting delays or inaccuracies in the Stud Book Argentino’s updating process – a matter the registry’s authorities will need to address to maintain reliable statistics.

Leandrinho’s streak began early, guiding Safety Game (Safety Check) to an emphatic 10-length maiden win in the opening Premio Bagualero. He then added victories aboard Corona Tack (Art Attack), the promising filly The Great Village (The Great Day), Negador Serial (Violence), veteran Emprestado (Catcher In the Rye), and closed his sensational day with Melón Vino (Cosmic Trigger).

With these six new wins, Francisco Leandro now totals 193 victories for the season, boasting a remarkable 21.7% strike rate. Kevin Banegas, enjoying an excellent year as well, sits second in the standings with 140 wins and an 18.1% win rate.

Another notable performance came from apprentice Mariano Rey, who delivered a pricey double aboard Check In(Safety Check) at $39.50, and Full Marker (Full Mast) at a massive $70.55 despite veering dramatically in the stretch to finish practically against the rail.

Wilson Moreyra also enjoyed a double on the card, partnering Alarico (Il Campione) and Sonrisa Pampeana (Nashville Texan) to victory.
