The daughter of Winning Prize fought from the start with her two rivals and at the wire ended up achieving the best victory of her campaign

It was an almost relentless battle from the start among the three. For a moment, it seemed that Lissette Island (Lizard Island) was going to be able to continue her winning streak and justify her heavy favoritism of $1.50; La Bella Otero(Daddy Long Legs) also threatened for a few seconds that she could take the cup. However, in the end, the tenacity of Free Prize prevailed, as she carried away the best triumph of her campaign this Friday at Hipódromo Palermo in the Clásico República de Panamá (G3).
A brave mare, who has sometimes been seen running up front and other times coming from off the pace, she consolidated the improvement she had been showing in her recent outings and celebrated big. The victory gave breeder Haras El Turfand stallion Winning Prize (Pure Prize) their second black-type success in less than a week, the exact same connections behind Contado, the hero of last Saturday's Clásico Manuel Anasagasti (L) at Hipódromo de San Isidro.
As mentioned, Free Prize set the tone from early on, fighting for the lead with Lissette Island and La Bella Otero, tipping the scales in her favor in the final meters to defeat the favorite by just a head, with an identical margin back to the third-place finisher. The contest was completed in a remarkable time of 56s90/100.
With Gonzalo Borda in her irons and trained by Gabriel Monteagudo for Stud Julieta M. of Venado Tuerto, Free Prizecelebrated for the sixth time in 16 presentations, elevating her earnings to nearly 46 million pesos. In the stakes ranks, this marked her second victory, having previously captured the Handicap Empeñosa over 1200 meters in September 2025.
Free Prize is out of Feeling Free (Equal Stripes), a full sister to the Derby Winner For the Top (Equal Stripes) —who also had a good campaign in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia— and to the very consistent Fade Out (Equal Stripes), a G3-placed runner and stallion.
Further down her pedigree, Free Prize traces back to a Haras Ojo de Agua family that remains highly relevant today, featuring names such as G1 winner Comando Secreto (War Command) or Eleven Mile (Il Campione), the same line of G1 winner Hanzacal (Logical), among others.
