The La Familia Ingalls Runner Targets His First Stakes Victory in the Refinado Tom (L), Set for 1200 Meters

Another Wednesday of modest racing awaits at San Isidro, with the lone touch of quality provided by the Clásico Refinado Tom (L), run in memory of La Biznaga’s champion and Argentina’s last Triple Crown winner.
Framed as a handicap for 4-year-olds and up over 1200 meters on dirt, the race drew a field of nine, with competitive chances across the board. It looks like the perfect chance for Freed From Desire (Holy Boss) to translate his fine recent form in the allowance ranks to the black-type level. Carrying just 53.5 kilos, the Héctor Calvente trainee comes off a sharp victory at Palermo, where he scored by 1 1/2 lengths in a quick 1:10.91.
His main threat could be the seasoned Rugiente (Il Campione, 57.5), who aims to regain the form that carried him to victories in the Domingo Torterolo, Revista Palermo, Jorge Valdivieso, and the Handicap Snow Gambler. He was most recently third, beaten 3 1/2 lengths by Candy and Giant (Giant’s Pleasure), and the slight weight break here should aid his cause.
Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues) will break from the outside under topweight of 58 kilos, bringing a string of three runner-up efforts into this contest. A stakes winner at the track and trip in November when landing the Clásico Telescópico, he has since finished second in the General Manuel Belgrano (G3), Mariano Moreno, and the Handicap Día del Veterinario.
Among the longer-priced players, Mario’s Rim (Remote, 53.5) is one to watch, having sprung a surprise in the Clásico Adolfo P. y Aníbal Giovanetti when defeating Sonreime (Orpen), now a benchmark sprinter at La Plata.
Rounding out the field are Oriental Boy (Cosmic Trigger, 53.5), Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince, 53), Say It Fast (Cosmic Trigger, 53.5), Billy Bob (Idalino, 51.5), and Suarium (Manipulator, 53.5).
