After struggling over heavy turf, the gray filly bounced back with a strong rally in the Clásico Snow Figure, reaffirming her solid profile on the dirt track

Bichita de Luz is making a habit of shining on the dirt track at San Isidro. Returning to the same course and distance where she captured the Clásico Vale Dori just over a month ago, the gray filly surged late to take Wednesday's featured Clásico Snow Figure (1200 meters), on a card otherwise short on star power.
Flying home in the stretch, she erased a significant deficit to win going away and fully rebound from a disappointing effort in the G3 Clásico General Las Heras over 1400 meters on heavy turf, where she finished 26 lengths behind Candlelit (Equal Stripes) in bog-like conditions.
With Laureano Colasso in the irons and toting 58.5 kilos, the Marcelo Degregorio trainee raced well off the early speed, where Lissette Island (Lizard Island, 56), Beauty Check (Safety Check, 53), and topweight Early Life (Suggestive Boy) scorched the pace through splits of :21.75 and :44.51.
Once in the clear, Lissette Island began edging away from the field in the stretch, but the blazing fractions took their toll. From the 200-meter pole home, Bichita de Luz launched a sweeping rally down the center of the track, joined by A La Vista (Angiolo, 56.5), to storm past the leaders.
At the wire, Bichita de Luz held a 1 1/2-length advantage over A La Vista, with Early Life coming back for third, three-quarters of a length behind and a neck in front of a tiring Lissette Island. The final time was 1:09.11.
Owned by Stud Mano Negra and bred by Haras El Mallín, Bichita de Luz completed a strong stakes double for her sire Fragotero (Roman Ruler) at San Isidro, following Lacanian Ink's victory in the G2 Clásico Partícula over the weekend.
Out of Una Bocha (Hurricane Cat), and a full sister to G3 winner Ultima Cuota, from the family of stakes winner Urbanada (Slew Gin Fizz), Bichita de Luz now owns 5 wins from 10 starts, including three stakes triumphs—the Snow Figure, the Vale Dori, and the Listed Luis Monteverde at La Plata.
