The Jockey Club Argentino has nominated the winner of the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz (G1) as its representative for the continental challenge, to be held Sunday, April 26, at Monterrico

Hipódromo de San Isidro officially announced on Wednesday the nomination of Full Keynote as its representative for the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1). The race will take place on Sunday, April 26, at Hipódromo de Monterrico in Lima, Peru, contested on the turf.
The son of Full Mast pulled off a major upset last Saturday, winning as an outsider in the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz (G1)—the designated trial race used by the Jockey Club Argentino. In doing so, he regained the stakes-winning profile he had displayed as a juvenile at the start of his career.
As a reminder, the bay colt defeated Thor Medina (Mootasadir) by three-quarters of a length, with Chelato (Cosmic Trigger) 1 1/2 lengths back in third. The Gladiator's Hat (Hat Ninja), who was coming off a runner-up finish to the Brazilian-bred Obataye (Courtier) in the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1), finished fourth.
Trained by Diego Peña, Full Keynote will give Stud-Haras Gran Muñeca its first-ever starter in the Latinoamericano. The operation has become a prominent force in national breeding, recently celebrating major victories such as Moon Frank (Gidu) in the 2025 Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1), and Full Serrano (Full Mast) in the 2025 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar, USA.
The 2026 edition of the continental centerpiece returns to the "Coloso de Surco," but with the turf course taking center stage for the first time. The race will be contested over 2,000 meters (approx. 1 1/4 miles), with a maximum field of 16 runners and a $300,000 winner's purse.
With the recently announced sponsorship from Cygames, the Latinoamericano already has several confirmed stars, including the Chilean-bred Teao (Ya Primo), fresh off a victory in El Derby (G1) at Viña del Mar, and the aforementioned Obataye, who will seek his second consecutive win in the event.
The South American Organization for the Promotion of Thoroughbreds (OSAF) will accept supplemental nominations (at a total cost of $25,000) until the 20th of this month. The final selection of horses entering through this route will be announced during the week of March 20.
Jockey clubs and member associations have until March 16 to name their official representatives. The contenders are expected to arrive at Monterrico between 7 and 10 days prior to the race.
