Fully Subscribed keeps up the pressure and now targets Nitrogen and the Breeders’ Cup

The daughter of Tiz the Law dominated the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1) with complete authority, leaving Counting Stars and Immersive in her wake, while adding fuel to her claim for the champion older female title. Agatecaptured the Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes (G2) and Adonius sprung a surprise in the Indian Summer Stakes (G3), rounding out three new qualifiers for the Breeders’ Cup

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Fully Subscribed arrived at Keeneland with two clear objectives and left having accomplished both. She added another Group 1 triumph to strengthen her championship credentials among older females and gained valuable experience over the very track and distance where, on October 31, she will contest the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1).
The Klaravich Stables representative confirmed her fantastic present form by cruising to a 3 1/4-length victory in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1-1,800 m, $650,000), a race ultimately reduced to just three runners following the scratches of Regaled (Mohaymen) and Snowyte (Good Magic), but one packed with elite quality.
Facing her were Counting Stars (Honor A.P.), one of the nation's top 3-year-old fillies and a double G1 winner at Saratoga, and Immersive (Nyquist), the 2024 champion 2-year-old filly.
Fully Subscribed handled them with ease. The 1-2 favorite, a daughter of Tiz the Law, stalked closely as Immersive, under José Ortiz, set fractions of :24.19, :48.43, and 1:13.00. Flavien Prat never allowed the leader to get away and, when the time came to accelerate, the race changed hands in a flash.
Fully Subscribed ranged up and past Immersive before entering the homestretch and immediately opened up a commanding margin. Counting Stars dispatched the former juvenile champion and tried to launch a bid, first on the outside before shifting inward toward the rail, but she was never able to mount a serious threat.
Fully Subscribed maintained her relentless rhythm all the way to the wire, completing the 1,800 meters in 1:50.60. Counting Stars finished second, 6 lengths ahead of Immersive.
It marked another emphatic statement from the Chad Brown trainee, who was coming off a stunning 9 3/4-length blowout in the Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) at Saratoga.
Fully Subscribed’s career record now stands at 6 wins, 3 seconds, and 1 third from 10 starts, with earnings reaching $1,441,800. This season, she has won three of her five outings.
Brown had the division championship battle firmly in mind—where Nitrogen (Medaglia D'Oro) looms as the division leader—and the Spinster presented the perfect opportunity to stack up arguments.
He also wanted to give her crucial experience over the Keeneland surface prior to the Distaff. He achieved both. As part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In program, the Spinster also guaranteed her a fee-paid berth to return in four weeks and contest the year's marquee event for older fillies and mares on the dirt.
Following her Saratoga display, there were few doubts about her rapid progression. Keeneland provided another resounding confirmation: Fully Subscribed will head to the Breeders’ Cup as one of the horses to beat.
Agate Finds the Gap to Punch His Breeders’ Cup Ticket
Agate delivered another performance of immense interest in the Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes (G2-1,700 m, $400,000), rallying from far off the pace to secure a 1 3/4-length victory.
The son of Karakontie, bred and owned by Dede McGehee and conditioned by Kelsey Danner, found himself back in seventh early while longshot Trim Castle (Collected) carved out blistering fractions of :22.39 and :46.27.
He was still 10 1/2 lengths off the speed as the 1,200 meters flashed by in 1:10.91.
Tyler Gaffalione then began picking off runners, tipping off the rail midway through the stretch to find the daylight he needed. Agate mowed down rival after rival and pulled clear at the wire to stop the clock in 1:42.64 on the firm turf course. Bold Leadership (Not This Time) rallied to take second ahead of Real Goodbar (Authentic).
Agate, who had entered the race on the heels of a third-place finish in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Stakes (L), now boasts two wins from four starts and $363,775 in purse earnings.
The victory also represented the first career graded stakes win at Keeneland for both Danner and McGehee, while securing an automatic entry into the Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).
Adonius Hits the Target
The card also delivered an immediate reward for a European visitor. Adonius made his American debut and needed just 1,100 meters to score a thrilling victory in the Indian Summer Stakes (G3, $350,000), punching his ticket to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1).
The son of Soldier’s Call, trained in England by Rebecca Menzies, broke a step slow and was left well back as the filly Ruiva set blistering early fractions of :21.15 and :44.37.
John Velazquez never panicked. He kept his mount in the clear, out wide, and began steadily closing the gap in the stretch.
Ruiva (Munnings) still held a 2 1/2-length advantage at the furlong pole, but she began to feel the heavy early exertions. Love a Warrior (Jackie's Warrior) surged past her and looked home free, until Adonius unleashed a flying late charge.
The European traveler collared Love a Warrior virtually on the wire to prevail by a nose in 1:03.46. Just a nose further back in third came Wood Island (Jackie's Warrior), with Ruiva fourth another head behind.
Adonius, who had previously finished second in stakes events during Glorious Goodwood and the Ebor Festival at York, improved his record to 4 wins from 6 starts. His trip across the Atlantic has already paid substantial dividends, with an even bigger reward lingering on the horizon.
