Funny Polly, confidently handled by Wilfrido Torres Maldonado, delivered a commanding performance to capture the Especial Wanna Dance for the Stud Sin Nombre

LA PLATA.- Ever since she began racing under the colors of Stud Sin Nombre—proudly Uruguayan through and through—Funny Polly (Astern {Aus}–Medaglia d'Oro) has undergone a remarkable transformation. What once looked like a modest one-win résumé has evolved into a legitimate black-type presence, and Sunday’s dominant score in the Especial Wanna Dance(1400m, wet dirt) at La Plata was the latest—and most resounding—proof.
Trained by Pedro Nickel Neto, the European-bred filly is making the most of her age allowance, which gives her a notable edge over her older rivals. The results speak for themselves: three wins, a runner-up finish, and a puzzling off-the-board effort in her last five starts.
With a composed and confident ride by Wilfrido Torres Maldonado, Funny Polly tracked early favorite Jalimba (Señor Candy) for a few strides, then surged to the front down the backstretch and never looked back. She powered to the wire 2 lengths in front of Mi Negra Paula (Reflecting), who rallied late to claim second, with Jalimba another 6 lengths behind in third. Final time for the 1400 meters was a solid 1:24.75.
Bred by Haras Santa Inés, Funny Polly continues to grow with every outing. Her convincing display on Sunday not only confirmed her upward trajectory but also delivered another celebration for Uruguayan connections on Argentine soil.
