A son of Fortify out of a stellar female family, Chanta Joy achieved his greatest success in the 2022 G1 Gran Premio de las Américas – OSAF, showcasing the talent and class that defined his racing career

An important development for the breeding scene in Argentina’s La Pampa province was announced by journalist Carlos Richard via his blog Contacto Hípico, reporting that G1 winner Chanta Joy (Arg) will take up stud duties beginning in the 2025 season at Haras Euzkadi, located in Macachín.
A striking individual with elite bloodlines and a proven track record on the racetrack, Chanta Joy will join Fiel Amigo (Violence)—Argentina’s Champion 2-Year-Old of 2021 and now sire of two crops—at the farm.
Bred and raced by Stud-Haras Firmamento, Chanta Joy was the first foal produced by Stormy Marchita (Bernstein)following her acquisition by Juan Carlos Bagó during the dispersal of Haras La Biznaga. She would go on to deliver one of Firmamento’s great success stories.
Trained throughout his career by Carlos D. Etchechoury, Chanta Joy wasted no time making his presence felt. After a runner-up effort on debut, he posted back-to-back victories over 1200 and 1400 meters on the dirt at Palermo. Stepping into stakes company, he finished second behind Nochero Querido (Most Improved) in the G2 Clásico Benito Villanueva before capturing the highlight of his career in the G1 Gran Premio de las Américas – OSAF.
Chanta Joy later added a runner-up finish to Malibú Spring (Greenspring) in the G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Mile, and proved his versatility by taking the G2 Clásico 9 de Julio over the turf at San Isidro—his final victory before an injury forced his retirement. Though there were a few comeback attempts, he was never quite the same and was ultimately retired from racing.
From a pedigree standpoint, Chanta Joy brings a lot to the table. By Fortify (Distorted Humor), one of Argentina’s leading sires in recent years, he is a full brother to Matrix Joy, winner of the G3 Clásico Polla de Potrillos at La Plata.
His dam, Stormy Marchita, is a half-sister to multiple notable stakes winners and producers, including champion Forty Marchanta (Roar)—whose grandson First Mission (Street Sense) recently captured the G2 Oaklawn Handicap in the U.S.—as well as G2 winner South Marsh (Southern Halo), stakes winner Con Marchista (Confidential Talk), G1-placed Stormy March (Bernstein) (dam of G3 winner South Marshy), and G2-placed Giant Marked (Giant’s Causeway). This is the prolific family of G1 winner Man Toss (Egg Toss).
