Lucullan filly surged late to deny Victoria Bayern in the final strides after her rival briefly took command

If a horse from Gerardo Alteño lines up in a stakes race at Palermo, it almost feels inevitable: they either win—or come very close. The trainer’s remarkable run continued Sunday as Adi Shakti unleashed a powerful late surge to land the G3 Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (1400m, turf).

Following recent victories by Ninguneando (Bodemeister) in the Expressive Halo (L), Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris) in the G2 Benito Villanueva, and Le Cornette (Emmanuel) in the Jerry Honor, Irlanda (G3), and Estados Unidos de América (G3), it was now the turn of the daughter of Lucullan to carry Alteño back to the winner’s circle.

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, however. Alteño was indirectly impacted by the recent two-year suspension handed to Néstor Bello, who had been saddling his runners at San Isidro, following the positive test involving Bluclette Rim(Remote) after his win in the Fomento Equino (L).

Ridden by Kevin Banegas, Adi Shakti settled well off the pace early as expected front-runner Mis Locuras(Manipulator) set strong fractions and opened up a clear lead. The tempo held into the stretch, where the race began to take shape.

Turning for home, it initially appeared that Victoria Bayern (Santillano) had seized control after edging past Filippiada(Il Mercato). But just as she hit the front, the real danger was building behind her.

Slow to fully unwind at first, Adi Shakti exploded inside the final 200 meters, producing a devastating burst to collar Victoria Bayern in the closing strides and draw off by three-quarters of a length.

There was little between the next finishers, with Harlan's Rim (Remote) charging late to be third, a neck behind the runner-up and just ahead of Filippiada. Moon's Destiny (Orpen) checked in fifth, narrowly in front of race favorite Stormy Summer (Nicholas), who failed to fire. Highly regarded Pecadora Joy (Fortify) disappointed as well, finishing next-to-last, though only 3 1/2 lengths adrift of the winner.

The final time was 1:24.72, and for Adi Shakti, bred by Haras Rodeo Chico, the victory marked a return to form after a dip in performance following a strong second half of 2025.

For Alteño, meanwhile, the momentum simply refuses to slow.
