The jockey added the Polla de Potrillos at La Plata to his record and once again demonstrated the strong connection he maintains with the stable, with whom he has already celebrated major victories alongside Qué Tarde Gris and El Resero Con Capa

LA PLATA.— There are moments when everything seems to go right. For Adrián Giannetti, his current form is a perfect reflection of that rhythm. Having established himself as one of the most consistent jockeys in Argentine racing, the rider once again climbed to the top of the podium by guiding Autorretrato to victory in the Clásico Polla de Potrillos (G2)—a conquest that confirmed both his superb form and the flourishing partnership he has built with Stud Tres Jotas.

This is hardly the first time the duo has made headlines. In recent months, Giannetti has played the starring role in major victories aboard horses like Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione) and El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo), building a mutual trust that continues to translate into top-tier results.

"I'm thrilled to have won the Polla with Autorretrato. It was a phenomenal job by trainer Arnaldo Vigil, who brings these horses to the track at ten-to-one so that every time I come down, I can just supply the finishing touch," the jockey told Daniel Sinegub for the closed-circuit TV broadcast, emphasizing that the victory stems from a collective effort behind stable doors.

The Polla was far from a simple assignment. The muddy track put several contenders in difficulty, requiring patience through the early stages. Giannetti knew the game plan and executed it flawlessly.

"Regarding the race, he handled everything really well. He looks like a very good prospect with a bright future ahead. He managed to overcome tough rivals as well as the track conditions, which were extremely demanding. The plan was to ride him patiently because we knew there would be plenty of early speed. I didn't worry; I gave him support over the heavy ground, and to be honest, he helped me every step of the way. He always traveled with good action. At one point, I was going to pull him outside, but a gap opened up on the rail, allowing me to save ground there. Then, once I showed him daylight in the straight, the colt responded fully and won a very nice race," he summarized, reflecting on a trip that found the right room just as the race came down to the wire.

Another key factor came at the start—an area the team had been addressing following some gate troubles in the son of Angiolo's previous outing.

"In his previous race, he didn't have the best break because he can be a bit fractious in the gates. But the team, alongside Vigil and Pablo Sotelo, who rides him every morning, has been working hard on that. Pablo gave me instructions on how to handle him behind the gate. I listened, and Autorretrato cooperated; the people who know the horse best are vital," Giannetti explained, highlighting the importance of trusting those who work with the colt daily.

Refusing to take sole credit, the rider once again shifted the spotlight to those who prepare the horse throughout the week.

"I'm the one giving the interview, but Vigil's entire stable team works tirelessly to achieve these victories," he noted, a remark that highlights his professional mindset and recognition that major wins are always a shared achievement.

With the first jewel of the local Triple Crown secured, questions naturally arise regarding Autorretrato's future and his ability to stretch out over longer distances. Giannetti remains optimistic, though he prefers to take things one step at a time.

"I don't think he'll have any issue going further in distance, but for now, we're going to enjoy what we've accomplished, and later his trainer and owner will decide where we head next," he concluded.

As the colt's future opens up exciting new possibilities, Giannetti continues to write one of the finest chapters of his riding career. In a year where major victories are coming with remarkable frequency, capturing the Polla de Potrillosonly serves to confirm that he is at the peak of his powers, backed by a partnership with Tres Jotas that seems to have no ceiling.
