LA PLATA.- The Handicap Haras Abolengo will take center stage this Thursday at this venue. Run over 1200 meters for 3-year-olds and up with at least three wins, it finds its main contender in Glorioso Rim (Remote, 58), though within a very competitive group.

Winner here in late November of the Handicap Haras Dilú, the Omar Labanca trainee has since posted placings, finishing second in the Handicap Hipódromo de San Isidro and fourth in the Clásico Intendente Melchor A. Posse (L)—on turf at Palermo—and the Clásico Onesto Puente (L).

The dark bay representing Stud Los Nonos, from Neuquén, will welcome back Mago Beto (Dabster, 60), who returns to action after 487 days on the sidelines. A five-time stakes winner, including the Clásico Santiago Luro (G2) and Clásico Agustín B. Gambier (G3), he would win this race easily under normal conditions, but such a long layoff inevitably raises questions about what he can produce.

Naturally fast, Atrevido Electric (Electricity, 60) has also been away for a considerable period and shares top weight with the latter. If he goes to the front and handles the layoff, he could prove hard to reel in.

Youth is a valuable asset for El Determinado (Il Campione, 55), who was fourth last time in the Handicap Equal Stripes at Palermo and had previously recorded his fourth win in comfortable fashion on the dirt at San Isidro.

Looking for a bigger upset, the recommendation is to side with Curioso Azteca (Empire Aztec, 56).
