The son of Remote is a leading contender for the Handicap Hipódromo de San Isidro, Tuesday’s feature at La Plata

LA PLATA.- The Handicap Hipódromo de San Isidro, Tuesday’s centerpiece at La Plata, shapes up as a tricky puzzle to solve. The 1,200-meter contest, open to horses 4 and up with at least three career wins, has drawn a full field of 12 and promises a tight finish.
It feels almost mandatory to lean on the most recent key form, that of the Handicap Haras Dilú, run 21 days ago, when Glorioso Rim (Remote, 57 1/2) sprang a mild surprise by edging Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince, 57 1/2) by half a length. Payucano (Mask, 59 1/2) finished third, 2 1/2 lengths back, with Curioso Azteca (Empire Aztec, 56) another two lengths behind in fourth. All four renew acquaintances here, with only minor weight adjustments, and if Glorioso Rim reproduces that effort, a repeat victory is well within reach.
Of that quartet, Ridge Prince is the lone runner to have raced in the interim, finishing a modest seventh behind Despacito(Sabayón) in the Clásico Jorge Valdivieso at Palermo.
Adding further depth to the main group is Indy Pro (Indy Point, 54), a horse with several solid graded-stakes placings to his credit. He was first past the post last time in the Especial Ribereño over 1,400 meters, only to be demoted to second behind Che Vivi (Manipulator), a performance that still underlines his competitiveness.
Also very much in the mix is Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec, 58), winner of the Handicap Haras Don Florentino in late July and fresh off a respectable third in the Especial Haras San Benito, following attempts in both the Gran Premio Maipú (G1) and the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2).
Bold Fire (Orpen, 55) arrives in good current form out of allowance company and is looking to make his presence felt at this level, while veteran In a Flash (Endorsement, 57), now nine, should not be dismissed despite recent setbacks—he once made plenty of noise in Palermo handicaps and could rediscover that spark.
All told, it is a cracking race on paper, one where margins figure to be slim and the outcome anything but straightforward.
