LIMA, Peru (Special for Turf Diario).- On an afternoon where the Monterrico sun seemed to shine with a special intensity to greet the king, Gluck confirmed that titles do not weigh him down; they fit him to the measure of his class. Peru's brand-new Horse of the Year needed no protocols for his debut; his devastating stride and unyielding grit were enough to add a new golden page to his career, winning the Clásico Alfredo Benavides y Alfredo Benavides Diez Canseco (G2) for the third time in the last 4 years.

The Sunday appointment over 2,000 meters was the ideal stage for the chestnut of Stud Santa Rosa to ratify his hegemony. And he did not fail. Under the expert guidance of Miguel Vilcarima, the son of Koko Mambo and Musical Prodigy (Bernstein) managed the fractions with the coldness of those who know they are superior. While the Argentine-bred Super Lulito (Super Saver) attempted the adventure from the front, the Haras San Pablo credit stayed in pursuit, waiting for the exact moment to launch his strike.

Upon entering the home straight, the leader's resistance became futile against the power of the trainee conditioned by his owner, José Soyer. With his characteristic solvency, Gluck dominated the action to cross the wire with a 3 1/2-lengthadvantage over Super Lulito, while a lackluster Serafín (Street Lolo) trailed the field a distant 12 3/4 lengths back. It was an exhibition of health and longevity for a specimen that, at 6 years old, seems to have found the fountain of youth.

Gluck's numbers exude an amazing effectiveness: he achieved his 22nd victory in 33 starts, raising his earnings to the impressive figure of 870,119 soles. Beyond the statistics, he once again moved the Lima fans, proving that his reign is far from over. It was, ultimately, the perfect debut for the monarch of Peruvian racing, who continues to write his history through triumphs and a hierarchy that knows no borders.
