As in 2023, the remarkable stayer stood out in a new edition of the Premios Postín; the daughter of Hi Happy was chosen as Champion Turf Sprinter

LIMA, Peru (Special for Turf Diario).- It was a truly equestrian night last Thursday at the Salón Reducto of the Casino Atlantic City. The Asociación de Criadores de Caballos de Carrera del Perú held the 42nd edition of the Premios Postín, drawing a large number of attendees who spent an enjoyable evening recognizing the talent and class of the most important runners of the 2025 season.
The occasion was also ideal to present special trophies to jockey Edwin Talaverano and trainer Juan Suárez for their outstanding and fruitful professional careers, enhancing Peruvian turf.
A total of 20 categories were awarded, including Haras of the Year and Stud of the Year, which went to Los Azahares and Jet Set, respectively, both having led the 2025 statistics by a wide margin.
It was, one could say, the night of Gluck (Koko Mambo). The noble chestnut repeated in all the categories he had already won in 2023, as if it were a simple task. His great campaign in the previous calendar made him worthy of the top title, Horse of the Year, becoming the fifth champion in history to achieve this distinction twice, following the historical Lutz (Lord Layabout), Black Coffey (Spend a Buck), El Escorial (Easy Miner), and Liberal (Meal Penalty).
Additionally, he earned the title of Champion Stayer on Dirt, adding the fourth Premio Postín to his personal tally. His owner, José Soyer, along with his family, took the stage to receive all the trophies before an audience that acknowledged with applause the trajectory of a long-standing stable like Santa Rosa.
Gluck also gave his dam, Prodigy (Bernstein), the title of Broodmare of the Year, which she also secured in 2023. In general, there were no major surprises in the categories.
Perhaps the one that had fans divided was Sire of the Year, which ultimately went to the Canadian Southdale (Street Cry), reaching his fourth title and equalizing the mark set by Apprentice (Forty Niner).
Precisely, two daughters of Southdale were honored during the night: Camilita, as Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, and Compasión, as Champion 3-Year-Old Filly on Turf.
In the 3-year-old male division, predictions were also met, with Derby winner Khamal (Mendelssohn) as Champion 3-Year-Old Colt, and Radoslav (Singe The Turf) as Champion 3-Year-Old Colt on Turf.
Among the adults, Magic Power (Power World) won the Premio Postín as Champion Stayer (turf); Santuario(USA-Yoshida) was Champion Miler; Navaja Merkel (USA-Mendelssohn) emerged as Champion Older Mare; Boudica (The Lieutenant) repeated as Champion Older Mare on Turf; Raine Elizabeth (Meal Penalty) was Champion Sprinter—her second title in the category and third overall—and the Argentine Sexy Star (Hi Happy) was elected as Champion Turf Sprinter.
