The stable holds a pair of strong hands heading into the next step of the selective process for fillies at the Hipódromo de La Plata

Two-year-old fillies will enjoy a new step in the incipient selective process this Tuesday at the racetrack of this city, where the Clásico Derli A. Gómez (G3) will be held. Named in memory of the unforgettable trainer, the race will demand the added challenge of stretching out to 1,200 meters.
With 8 confirmed runners, the strongest storyline will be finding out if Gota Clara Sos can maintain the dominance she has shown so far. After a winning debut in the Especial Apertura, she followed up with a victory in the Clásico Amilcar A. Mercader (L), both over the kilometer. The daughter of Made You Look was not as solid in the Mercader as she was in her debut, but she will now face a different, somewhat calmer pace.
As the saying goes, "there is no worse wedge than one from the same wood"; wearing the same silks (Stud Pauli) and sharing trainer Marcelo Sueldo, the most dangerous rival for the chestnut will be her paternal sister Mayan Goddess. She won on debut over the San Isidro straight, finished third against the males in the Clásico Congreve (L), and was most recently the runner-up, 1 1/2 lengths behind Embozada Rim (Remote), in the Clásico Carlos Casares (G3) at Palermo.
Coming from the same line is Se Cruzan (Manipulator), who opened her record with a one-length victory on the Buenos Aires straight before finishing 4 lengths behind Mayan Goddess in the Casares, completing the podium. For both, this will be their first test on the southern track—a trial they must overcome, as it is well known that the tight turn is often not easy to navigate.
Also under the care of Marcelo Sueldo, Salema (Il Mercato) has two wins—one via disqualification—and when she tested herself in the Mercader, she ran remarkably well, finishing third just 1 length behind Gota Clara Sos, a margin that could clearly be overturned.
In her third attempt, Achispada (Have At It) won with solvency and now steps up in class seeking to grow, while Ojitos Tristes (Mootasadir) and the maiden Beni Lara (El Benicio) would be surprises if they finish among the leaders.
